ALIENS HAVE LANDED? NO BUT FAT IS GOOD FOR YOU! DISPELLING THE DIETARY AND HEALTH MYTHS AND MISINFORMATION OF THE PAST 3 DECADES
We have been told by all official bodies for years that the best nutritional model for health was to eat high carbohydrate, low fat diets.
It took 17 years for the research on cholesterol and its’ harmful effects to make its’ way into the general populations domain. Thanks to the wonders of the internet this kind of information can now be disseminated much more quickly and efficiently for the benefits of everyone. Having spent 9 days listening to the top clinical specialists in the world, sometimes up to 5 hours a day, as one of the 110,000 participants (laypeople, clinicians and alternative practitioners alike) of the Gluten Summit, I can vouch that medical research into nutrition and its effect on the body and mind, has made incredible advancements in the last 5-10 years.
It is now known that:
- Low fat and high carbohydrate diets are killing us and are directly responsible for the Diabetes II and Obesity Epidemic.
- Wheat products are the root cause of a large percentage of leaky guts.
- Gluten is a protein in wheat which cannot be processed by any of us and which has no beneficial properties to us in our diets.
- Gluten proteins are not recognised by the body so when eaten cause the body to attack itself with antibodies.
- 80% + of the bodies immunity lies in the gut
- Imbalanced gut flora leads to ill health
- Having a permeable gut allows antibodies to get through into the blood stream which (depending on where the antibodies end up – which could be anywhere) in turn causing gluten disorders, autoimmune disorder, asthma, allergies, eczema, IBS, chronic fatigue system, Alzheimer’s, autism, ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and a whole range of mental disorders
- BRAIN HEALTH STARTS IN THE GUT! ( I have believed this for sometime)
- Imbalances in gut flora can be passed to your child causing an increased risk of things like developing schizophrenia later in life, an increased likelihood of suffering from allergies, asthma and auto immune diseases throughout their lifetime
- This list is not exhaustible and I will be writing more on many of these subjects in the days and months to come.
Do I have your attention? It certainly captured mine pretty quickly. I could write pages and pages and pages on this subject but for now I just wanted to pass on an overview. I will be going into more detail and focusing on smaller bite sized chunks soon. In the meantime what I can say is a better diet model would possibly be 60% good fats, 30% good proteins and 10% carbohydrates. Oh and look after your gut, think about ditching the wheat, introduce probiotics on a daily basis to help heal the gut.and avoid all known environmental toxins as much as possible.
